God’s Will

(April 2008)

God's will.

Everyone wants to know what God's will for his or her life is.  Easy!  His will for our lives is to allow Him full reign over our hearts, our minds, and our wills.

If we truly, truly want what He wants for our lives, then we must be willing to encounter our own Gethsemane.  We, too, must bow down, giving up our selfishness, our desire to do things a different way, on our own.  We, too, must break through the suffocating fear and say wholeheartedly, "Not my will be done, but Thine alone."

Not so easy?  Compare it with the paths upon which our own feet have trod!  We rush to end up nowhere.  We try to fix situations and create bigger messes.  In light of the alternatives, really, handing our lives over to the One Who loves us most is the easiest thing to do!

Since His grace is sufficient for us, and since His strength is shown as perfect because of our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9), and since we are seeking His will for our lives – “His good, pleasing, and perfect will” (Romans 12:2b) – then why not accept it?  It’s actually quite liberating to know that HE is the one in charge!!!!
